We founded Sugar Skull with one simple idea in mind: 

Make products that bring people joy.

It turns out that simple idea raises one very big question.

What brings people joy?

We gave that one a lot of thought and came up with a small, but compelling list of requirements for products that bring joy.

They have to do what they are supposed to do very well without great effort from the user / consumer.

They have to bring pleasure and/or comfort when set to their purpose.

In short, they have to offer Simple Luxury.

And with that, Simple Luxury became our North Star.

Armed with this new sense of direction we set out to find products that we could make and/or customize that would meet the expectations for Simple Luxury.

After considering several potential options, we concluded that high quality, all natural candles were a good fit. Pretty much everyone can use a candle, and their scents certainly bring us pleasure and comfort. There was just one problem: There are a lot of great candle companies out there today making exceptionally good candles.

To be successful we were going to have to find a niche that was going unfulfilled and deliver the goods for that niche.

It just so happened that we had been on a trip to northern New Mexico not long before, and we had come across a shop selling ceramic sugar skulls. We had fallen in love with the beauty and artistry displayed by their creators. This set us on a search to learn more about the cultural significance and meaning of the sugar skull, which served to deepen our appreciation for them.

Then fate stepped in. While researching candle containers we stumbled across sugar skull candle jars that seemed to fit our price, size, and presentation desires. After some R&D to get the recipe right, the Original Sugar Skull Candle was born. And it turned out that people liked them!

Shortly after that we stumbled across the skull shot glasses that would later become the containers for our Mini Skull Candles. And guess what. People liked those too!

These events helped pull everything together to create Sugar Skull, LLC.

Since then we have expanded our product offerings into Health & Beauty, Apparel, and Home Decor & Accessories, all while remaining true to our Simple Luxury North Star.

Our products all proudly wear the Sugar Skull brand logo, indicating that they have met our expectations for delivering Simple Luxury.

We still hand pour our candles and hand make our Health & Beauty products in our own facility just outside of Fort Worth, TX. We also partner with north Texas based businesses to select and customize our apparel products to ensure they live up to our Simple Luxury standards.

Recently we have begun to work with other suppliers to offer products that compliment our core products while still maintaining the Simple Luxury ethos. You'll see the best of the best in our Sugar Skull Mugs, Candle Warmers, and Ornaments.
